JUNIOR boxer Arlando Mrijai enjoyed a big away day on Saturday when he travelled to East Sussex to take part in his first skills contest.
The talented youngster, who trains out of Islington Boxing Club, showed off his potential against Hillcrest ABC fighter Alfie Pickering at the Peacehaven Meridian Centre.
Designed to help young boxers develop, skills tests are about speed and movement as duellists trade light punches, while aggressive, heavy, punching is discouraged.
Islington coach Chad Ouzman, who trains Arlando alongside Zowie Campbell, said he was delighted with Arlando’s debut.
“We’re very pleased with Arlando’s performance, he did very well,” he said. “We feel that it won’t be long now until he’s ready for his first competitive contest.”
