ARSENAL finally confirmed the £56 million capture of Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang today (Wednesday), as the final hours of the January transfer window ticked by.
The deal breaks the club’s record transfer fee, only set in the summer when Alexandre Lacazette arrived from Lyon with a £46 million pricetag. Aubameyang, 28, arrives in the wake of Alexis Sanchez’z move to Manchester United
Meanwhile, Gunners fans were celebrating news that Mesut Ozil has ended speculation around his Emirates Stadium future by signing a new three-and-a-half year deal, with reports suggesting he turned down Paris St Germain to do so. With his contract winding down, he could have walked away from Arsenal on a free transfer if he had not put pen to paper on new terms, which at £350,000 a week will make him on of the highest paid players in the league.
