DESIGNERS flocked to Highgate village at the weekend to show off their crafts.
The Highgate Literary and Scientific Institute hosted the Handmade in Highgate art fair in its hall in Pond Square for three days from Friday.
Catherine Budgett-Meakin, president of the HLSI, said: “Our membership is always growing and we appreciate the support. My aim has been to get the place looking outwards not inwards. Our doors are open to everybody.”
The HLSI hosts two art fairs a year, one in the spring and another at Christmas.

It also holds weekly lectures on subjects ranging from the Great War to climate change, half of which are attended by non-members including local school students. There is also a library, film society, opera group and science group.
Ms Budgett-Meakin added: “Our principal thing is being a place where people can listen and learn.”
