Caught on camera? Expensive plant pot pinched from West Hampstead doorstep

Police close case because 'face can not be seen clearly enough' on original footage

CAUGHT on camera, a green-fingered – and light-fingered – thief appears to pinch a plant pot from a doorstep in West Hampstead.

The film was being shared on social media yesterday (Friday) after it was reported a £50 planter had been stolen from a home in Broadhurst Gardens.

The owner of the camera, who runs the Finchley Road Buzz twitter account (@FinchleyRdBuzz), said:  “It was 11:30 at night and the guy just came down and took a plant pot. I got it all on camera.”

He added he that he had called the police the day after he woke up and realised it was missing, but the case was quickly closed.

“They said the evidence is not enough to see the face clearly enough on camera,” the man said. “I guess it’s not something they’re interested in. It’s not murder is it.”

Further footage from the CCTV camera shows a woman unusually coming into the private residential area earlier in the week and appearing to take a photo of the planter with her phone while having a cigarette.
