Dam row smoothed

THE Heath and Hampstead Society appear to have made up with the City of London Corporation after their long-running row over the construction of dams on the cherished Heath.
In a recent newsletter, the Society congratulated the City for having brought in the project within its £23m budget and concluded it did not “blight” the landscape as feared.
But the Society was unhappy the City had failed to dispel the “erroneous” public belief that the project was a “sinister” exercise to put large amounts of public money into the pockets of consultants and contractors.
