THE new director of a performing arts college in Belsize Park was joined by stars of the stage and screen as she announced her commitment to reach “even more children and young people”. Raidene Carter was accompanied by actor Simon Callow and presenter Simon Mayo at Wac Arts in Haverstock Hill on Sunday.
Ms Carter, who was recently appointed director of artistic programmes, said she felt “incredibly lucky and excited” to start her new job.
She said: “Wac Arts is one of the few spaces we have in London that allows seemingly ordinary people to show how extraordinary they are – not only for show or public performance, or because a new fund or initiative comes along, but all day, every day. You can’t easily replicate the sort of experience and dedication that places like Wac Arts have.”
The college held a series of open days at the first Wac Arts Weekender, which aims to “open the doors” of the centre and “connect with the community”.
