Knight Frank estate agency set for move into Heath Street furniture shop unit

Neighbourhood Forum fears for retail mix

23 March, 2017 — By Tom Foot

AN estate agent is planning a dream move into a spacious furniture shop with excellent transport links.

Knight Frank has applied to Camden Council to open a new office in Heath Street, behind Hampstead tube station. According to its application, the two-floor premises had been designated as a “shop” and so the change of use from retail would be lawful.

Chairwoman of Hampstead Neighbourhood Forum, Janine Griffis, has lodged an objection, warning it would be “damaging to the retail mix” and contrary to Camden planning guidance. Knight Frank – which advertises £10,000 weekly rents and homes selling for more than £14million on its website – has held Hampstead offices for 17 years. Its current Heath Street office used to be a pub, All Bar One.
