Love gift mural in Camden Town hidden by brick wall

Painting was a 'symbol of love'

30 June, 2018 — By Richard Osley

A MURAL of woman which was painted as a gift to a street artist’s truelove is slowly being concealed by a wall.

The image of a woman in her 20s has been slowly disappearing while building work continues at a site in Camden Town.  The striking artwork has towered over the corner of Bayham Street and Camden Road since 2015, and tourists regularly stop to take souvenir photos.

When it first appeared there was a confusion as to who the mural was supposed to depict. There were suggestions that it was an image of Lady Gaga or a model from London Fashion Week, but neither theories were correct.

Instead, a woman in her 20s revealed that it was a picture of her and it had been painted by her artist boyfriend.

The muse – a photographer – said: “My boyfriend is just truly amazing. I’ve got this from him as a symbol of his love for me.”

She added: “I’m on a huge wall in Camden Town. That means he loves me, right? I still can’t believe it.”
